The Edinburgh Club features the highest quality construction materials. From the outset of the project, research has been done to incorporate innovative new "green" products while maintaining traditional quality and workmanship. Durisol Insulated Concrete Forms
ICF Building Systems

These reinforced insulated concrete forms do not use foam or polystyrene, and instead, use Durisol – a proprietary wood concrete material (cement bonded wood fiber).

ICF wall forms provide better insulation (R-values) properties, better water resistance, consistent performance year after year, no air infiltration, high wind load, high fire resistance, never rots or decays, termite resistance, sound deadening, fast installation, and many other benefits. Durisol concrete structures are safer, quieter, more comfortable, energy-efficient, structurally secure, and environmentally responsible than any other concrete building system available on the market today.
Durisol ICF forms are environmentally safe, do not contain nor emit any toxic elements, and are fully recyclable. They contain no plastic, foams or polystyrenes.

Durisol Insulated Concret Forms

Durisol is composed of specially graded recycled waste wood (100% clean, natural softwood lumber). This wood is first chipped into wood fiber. It is then mineralized and bonded together with Portland cement. This Durisol material is then molded into the many shapes that comprise a full range of cement-bonded wood fiber reinforced ICF concrete forms.

Durisol ICF forms are a tried and tested material with a track record of over 70 years. Durisol products have been installed worldwide, where they have withstood hot and humid climates, disasters (fire, bombs, hurricanes, earthquakes), freezing and thawing – all without loss of performance or damage. In North America, Durisol has been in production since 1953. Durisol wood concrete insulated forms are truly a green and healthy product.

Hambro – D500
Composite Floor Joist System

Hambro floor joist bottom chord (Fy 350 MPa min. or Fy 50,000 psi min.) acts as a tension member when the concrete is being poured, and continues to serve that purpose during the service life of the floor. The web, tying top and bottom chords together, is made of bent rods Fy 350 MPa min. or Fy 50,000 psi min. (continuous by design).

The web resists vertical shear in a conventional manner. The patented 13-gauge top chord of the floor joist (Fy 350 MPa min. or Fy 50,000 psi min.) acts as a compression member during the non-composite stage.

In the composite stage, the top chord of the floor joist is embedded in the concrete and acts as a continuous shear connector. The concrete slab is reinforced with welded wire mesh. The top chord functions as a "high chair", developing negative moment capacity in the concrete slab causing it to behave as a continuous, one-way reinforced slab.

Trex Composite Decking

We make Trex® eco-friendly composite decks from an innovative blend of 95% recycled wood and plastic—that’s almost the whole thing. And we’ve been this way for more than 20 years, well before green was a buzzword. Because in the end, all of us want to look out on our decks and know that we’ve done our part.


As one of the largest plastic recyclers in the U.S. Trex saves 400 million pounds of plastic and wood from landfills each year. So in addition to contributing to a healthier environment, our eco-friendly decks also contribute to your LEED points—not to mention your good karma. 

Reclaimed wood that would otherwise end up in a landfill finds its way into Trex high-performance composite decks. By using reclaimed sawdust, we never have to cut down a tree to make our products. Ever.

The recycled wood in our decks is combined with recycled plastic from a variety of sources ranging from the overwrap on paper towels to dry cleaner bags, sandwich bags, newspaper sleeves, and grocery and shopping bags. Here’s an interesting fact: the average 500-square foot composite Trex deck contains 140,000 recycled plastic bags! That makes us one of the largest plastic bag recyclers in the U.S.

Trex’s proprietary, eco-friendly processing method eliminates the use of smoke stacks . Also, our factory runoff and refuse are recycled back into the manufacturing line. Our trailers even run on vegetable-based oil hydraulics.

Trex works along with other U.S. Green Building Council members to transform the way building and communities are designed, built and operated with the goal of creating environmentally and socially responsible spaces that improve the quality of life.


TEC elevator incorporates the latest generation of hoisting machine and the most advanced controller technology available in the industry offering a smooth ride and virtually noiseless operation. The GT VisionlLift compact gearless traction elevator is environmentally responsible using  up to 60% less energy than the standard hydraulic elevator and with no hydraulic oil there is no hot oil smell and zero spill risk.

Aluminum Low-E & Aragon Gas 

These specialty windows are created to neutralize the effects of changing weather on the inside of your home. They help keep a constant temperature longer so your air-conditioning and heating systems don’t have to boot up quite so often. Additionally, they’re designed with double or triple-pane glass, which provides added protection against air leakage.

For enhanced energy performance, Low Emissivity (Low E) glass is extremely important. Low E is thin, transparent layers of metal oxide applied to the glass surface. In warmer temperatures, Low E helps filter unwanted heat and ultraviolet rays from the sun from entering your home, thereby keeping your home cooler. In colder temperatures, the Low E coating allows heat rays from the sun to pass through, helping to warm interior temperatures. This means that regardless of the outside temperature, climate or season, Low E glass helps reduce the costs needed to heat or cool your home by using the rays from the sun to your advantage. This specialty glass also has a unique glaze that helps keep heat from seeping out, it allows visible light to enter your home and also protects against harmful ultraviolet light.

Argon gas is a colorless, odorless gas found in our atmosphere. The molecular makeup of Argon reveals that it is denser than air. Argon gas is better at reflecting heat compared to plain air, which is why Low E & Argon Gas windows have it between each separate piece of glass. By replacing the air inside of the sealed insulating glass unit with Argon, it provides increased insulating performance. That means unwelcomed heat is inhibited from entering your home while the warmth you want stays put. Regardless of the season, this ensures the climate is stable in your home.


The HZ5® product line is right at home in climates with freezing temperatures, extreme seasonal temperature variations, and snow and ice. To ensure that its beauty matches its durability, we’ve engineered the surface for higher performance, giving it superior paint adhesion and moisture resistance. In addition, we’ve added a drip edge to the HardiePlank® HZ5® lap siding product to provide improved water management in conditions specific to HZ5 climates.
